According to legend, Lord Krishna killed the demon Kesi at this very spot, and this event is commemorated at Kesi Ghat, adjacent to the temple. The temple is thus deeply intertwined with the spiritual heritage of the town and the stories of Krishna’s divine pastimes (leelas).

One of the most cherished rituals near this temple is the evening Yamuna Aarti held at Kesi Ghat. As the sun dips below the horizon, the ghat comes alive with the glow of oil lamps, the sound of conch shells, and the chants of “Radhe Radhe” reverberating in the air. This daily aarti creates a soul-stirring atmosphere that draws pilgrims from all over India and the world.

Devotees often perform parikrama (circumambulation) around the temple and the ghat, while others immerse themselves in the purifying waters of the Yamuna, believing it washes away sins and grants spiritual elevation.
