Located atop the Neel Parvat in the sacred city of Haridwar, the Chandi Devi Temple stands as a powerful symbol of divine strength, spiritual energy, and goddess worship in Hindu tradition. Dedicated to Maa Chandi, an avatar of Goddess Durga, this ancient temple is not only one of the most revered Shakti Peeths of North India but also a vital part of Haridwar’s spiritual landscape.
According to legend, Goddess Chandi was created from the divine energies of Devi Durga to annihilate the demons Shumbha and Nishumbha, who were terrorizing the heavens. After a fierce battle, she defeated them on Neel Parvat, where the temple now stands. It is believed that the main idol of the temple was installed in the 8th century by Adi Shankaracharya himself, and the present temple structure was built in 1929 by King Suchat Singh of Kashmir.
Shakti Peeth: Chandi Devi Temple is regarded as a Siddh Peeth, where the goddess is believed to fulfill the wishes of her sincere devotees.
It forms the trinity of Shakti worship in Haridwar, along with Mansa Devi and Maya Devi Temples.
Devotees offer prayers for strength, protection, and removal of obstacles.
There are two ways to reach the temple:

Ropeway (Udan Khatola): A thrilling ride offering panoramic views of Haridwar, the Ganges, and surrounding hills. The ropeway is a preferred option, especially during peak seasons and festivals.
Navratri: One of the best times to visit, as the temple is beautifully decorated and special pujas are conducted.
Chandi Chaudas and Durga Ashtami: Celebrated with devotion and grandeur.
Prasad & Offerings: Devotees offer coconut, flowers, red chunari, bangles, and sweets to the goddess.
The temple offers a stunning view of the Ganga River and the plains below.
